I was outside this afternoon and heard a knocking in the eaves… Lainey had been trying to convince me that we have a mouse for the past few months (though I blame the pipes for the tap-tapping) so I thought it best to investigate. So I got my torch, commandeered a stool from the kitchen and took to noseying about in the hole in the roof.

At first I couldn’t see anything, though my looking had stopped the knocking. But then on a second look, I saw a pair of eyes glinting back at me from in the shadows. It turns out the light on my w800i is more powerful than my torch and using it I was able to pick out the face of the little creature that you see here.

I decided that the little birdie couldn’t stay in the loft and so set about enticing it back out and off into the neighbouring trees - a much more fitting play pen for a flapping ball of feathers. So the little fella is out for now, but will he/she be back? Could there be a nest inside, we won’t be sure until I hear him knocking again, then I’ll have to get out my phone and continue the investigation.
